• Music Lessons at St Mary's CE Primary School

  Every child in Key Stage 2 is currently learning to play a musical instrument, and working towards an examination in music. We are about to introduce this in KS1, with recorder lessons which the children have requested! 

  

• Year 6 visit Downe

  Today, Year 6 had the opportunity to visit Downe House, the home of Charles Darwin. They were able to see the recreated bedroom of Charles and Emma Darwin, and try on clothes from the period (more than 100 years ago).

  

• ECHO Heart Day 2019

  You are invited to our 'Make and Bake' sale at 2.45pm in the school hall, where you can buy a gift that your child has made. All the money raised will be going to ECHO.

• Have you thought about joining our Maths Club?

  If your child is in Years 2-6, they are welcome from 8.20am every morning to join our Maths Club! Not only is it loads of fun, but we know that children who attend every day, will achieve at least the expected standard in their class assessments and SATs. Please join us!

  Miss Orpin is arranging a day of information and fun for all classes, around safer use of the internet. More details will follow but this day will provide both information and support our safeguarding culture in the school. If you have any concerns about a child's use of the internet, or their safety, please contact the school and speak to one of our safeguarding leads (Mrs McGarrigle, Mrs Davison and Mrs Fletcher).

• Minibus Update

  We have now managed to rasie £2758.90 towards our school minibus. We are hoping by half term to be 1/3 of the way to our target amount of £9000. Many thanks to all of our pupils, families and friends who have raised this money.

• Numbers Day

  The 1st February is Numbers Day, and we are working with the NSPCC on mathematics problems, and puzzles to support the learning in the classroom and raise money and awareness for a good cause. Mrs Pooley is arranging a fun day for all classes!
