    Book now for Reception September 2026 open days

    If your child was born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022, they are due to start their Primary School education in September 2026.  This year we will be holding our open days on Monday 10th November 2025 from 10:30-11:30am and on Friday 9th January 2026 from 1:30-2:30pm.

    Please complete the following form if you would like to attend one of these sessions

    Please note, there is no parking available on site for these sessions.  

    Applications for Reception 2026 open on Friday 7th November and close on Thursday 15th January 2026.

    Applications to St Mary's Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School should be accompanied by a supplementary information form (SIF).  Once you have completed your SIF please return it to our school office.

    A Typical Day at St Mary's CE Primary School

    Welcome to Maths Club!  All pupils from Years 2-4 are welcome to join Maths Club every morning in the school hall.  This offers 30 minutes of extra maths a day which is invaluable for every young learner.  Throughout the week pupils have the opportunity to develop and use the skills of fluency, reasoning and problem solving, and on Friday there is a games session.

    Years 5 and 6 Maths Clubs take place in the classrooms.  Pupils use White Rose 1 Minute Maths on a Friday morning to help with their knowledge and speed in Maths.

    Join us for breakfast!  All pupils are invited into school for a slice of toast, a bagel or cereal.  This is a great way to start the day.

    Registers are taken – please don’t be late, because missing the start of any lesson can disrupt your day and that of other pupils.

    Reception and Years 1-3 start their phonics lesson which is separated into small groups for maximum support, progress and achievement.  This is followed by their first lesson of the day.

    Reception class enter the lunch hall, allowing them 5 minutes on their own, getting settled with their lunch and finding a friend they want to eat and talk with.  We encourage a positive dining experience, with pleasant chatter and eating together in peace.

    Years 1-3 come into the hall to eat together.  If the weather is nice, pupils have the option of eating together on the field, picnic style.

    During lunchtime we also offer clubs for children including Chillz, where children can stay indoors to do colouring or other art-based projects.

    Afternoon lessons begin for Years 3-6.  These encompass all of the foundation subjects including swimming, sports, art, technology and music.

    After school

    We have an amazing range of after school clubs which are changed termly.  These include choir, makaton choir, art, netball, football and tag rugby.
