At St Mary's we have established an Eco-Council. This is a group of children who are passionate about the environment and champion sustainability, thinking of ways to make greener choices for our school. Two representatives are chosen from each year group from Year 2 onwards. Meetings are facilitated by an adult co-ordinator.  We discuss ways to improve biodiversity, tackle recycling and how we can keep our school tidy by carrying out regular litter picks.

This year, our Eco-Council members have been brilliant at recycling our paper on a Friday afternoon. They have also helped with the preparation of the allotment in anticipation of our Allotment Competition and were responsible for choosing the best planter with the help of one of our Governors. Well done Eco Warriors! 

Thank you once again to our Eco-Warriors who completed our last litter pick of the academic year. They have done a brilliant job on the Eco-Council, helping with planting, maintaining and tidying our outside areas, sorting the paper recycling on a Friday and helping one of our Governors to judge our allotment competition this year. Well done, and we look forward to appointing our next group of Eco-Warriors when we come back in September.
