Forest School

Forest School is an inspirational process that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.' (Forest School Association)

At St Mary’s C of E Primary School, our aim is to encourage independent, enthusiastic and creative learners who develop holistically through a well-planned and interesting child-centered approach through our visits to Forest School. Forest School sessions are planned by a qualified Forest School teacher, providing stimulating and hands on experiences to develop children's self-esteem, confidence and independence.

We want to instill a love of the great outdoors by making use of our outdoor provision. At Forest School, children will be encouraged to explore the natural environment, be introduced to using various tools and resources which will bring learning to life and create an understanding and respect for nature.

This is how our Forest School began...

And this is our Forest School today...
