First Day Calling

What happens if my child is off school and I do not let the school know where they are?

Registers are a legal document, and if we do not know where a child is, we have to get in contact with you. The reason for this is clear, your family or your child could be unsafe, and we need to act on that.

The first thing we will do is check the answerphone, and ask those on duty at the door if they have a message stating why your child is not in. If there is no message, then we will text you. It could be that you have been up all night with a sick child, and we will be considerate of that, but we will need an answer from you.

Where there is no answer to the text, we will call your home. If you do not answer, then two of the staff will come out to your home to make sure that you are all safe and well. If we are still concerned, we will call the police and ask for a welfare call to ensure you are safe.

Please avoid this action where you can, and leave a message for us (even if it is the middle of the night) or answer our calls. It is really important to us that you and your child is safe.
